urban spaces of gender-related emotion
Anxiety occurs in many different ways and on diverse places. The relation between fear and space is evidently: We all know the fear of height, of too big or too small, overcrowded or empty spaces, the fear of darkness, in basements, on attics or cemeteries. Every room and every space can turn into the projection of fear. The lack of fear provokes security. This dichotomous interdependence has a significant impact on our behaviour by affecting which places we frequent and which we eschew. The discussion about anxiety of space primarily refer to a female kind of fear. In principal we all notice the difference in perception of space and the relation between body and space according to gender. Therefore the question arises which parameters determine male and female behaviour and why different gender experience different emotions on different places.
